Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our secure, browser-based online PDF tools, file privacy, and troubleshooting.

Security & Privacy

Are my PDF files safe on WisePDF?

Yes, absolutely. WisePDF is one of the safest PDF toolsets on the web. Unlike traditional online converters, we never upload your files to our servers. All processing—whether you are merging, splitting, or compressing—happens locally inside your own web browser using advanced WebAssembly technology.

Do you keep a copy of my documents?

No. Because your files never leave your computer or mobile device, it is technically impossible for us to view, store, or keep copies of your documents. Your data remains 100% private.

Using the Tools

Is there a maximum file size limit?

Because WisePDF uses your device's local memory (RAM) instead of our cloud servers, there are no strict artificial file size limits. However, processing exceptionally large files (e.g., over 200MB or thousands of pages) will depend on the speed and available memory of your specific computer or smartphone.

Are these online PDF tools completely free?

Yes! Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality document management. You can merge PDFs, extract pages, convert files, and secure documents for free, without hidden subscriptions or annoying watermarks.

Does WisePDF work on Mac, Windows, and Mobile?

Yes. Our tools are entirely browser-based. As long as you are using a modern web browser (like Google Chrome, Safari, Edge, or Firefox), you can use our suite of tools seamlessly on any operating system, including iPhones and Android devices.

Specific Tools & Troubleshooting

Does splitting or merging a PDF reduce its quality?

No. When you use our Merge PDF or Split PDF tools, the software simply reorganizes the existing pages. It does not alter the text resolution or compress the images, ensuring your output file retains the exact original quality.

Why did my PDF to Word conversion fail?

PDF to Word conversions usually fail if the original PDF is a "scanned" document (essentially an image of a page) rather than a text-based document. Currently, basic conversion tools require readable text layers to format into a Word (.docx) file accurately.

Why is the tool taking a long time to process?

Since the processing happens on your device, speed relies on your computer's hardware rather than your internet connection. If a tool is running slowly, try closing other heavy browser tabs to free up RAM, or ensure your web browser is updated to the latest version.
